another music plug, and an update

Jikkenteki's flights of infinity

This is some of the deepest most meditative psytrance I've ever heard
The man actually plays and records his synths and instruments live, hardly any of it is made with a mouse, except fixing timing errors

This is 10/10

I went out of my way to go to the label's site(netlabel, just him and his friend), find out about his previous album, and pay for it on a download site

It's been YEARS since I've paid for music, I liked Jikkenteki that much, I had to offer him something

Flights of Infinity is a release free for download, so be sure to check out the link if you enjoy thumping beats and meditation

ektoplazm(the site in the link above hosting the album) is also a great site for free psytrance music(ambient, dark, prog, goa, many styles), be sure to check out the comps 50 full moons, 55 full moons, and 60 full moons, they struck me as especially funky.

another journal about musical recommendation

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 16, 2008, 5:14 AM
Artist: Lumin
Album: Ketri

This is quite unique
A variety of different paces
I found it in a chillout psychedelic trance mix

Ethnic indian sounds and vocals are the main theme, there's a beautiful female vocalist
And amazing "get you high" beats, ranging from light airy drum and bass-like two steps to beats that are close to the pace of house music(but sound absolutely nothing like house, psy dub is the closest I can categorize this)

I recommend the whole album but if you don't know what you're getting into when I say "chillout psychedelic trance" then I'll point you to track 1, "Izgrala"

The vocals almost remind me of j-pop(in flavor, it's not in japanese)

And even though I want to stick it in psy dub, it's only because of the goa style instruments(yes instruments, it isn't synth heavy), this doesn't hit you with near as much of the "WOAH I'M ON MUSHROOMS" bs that most psy music does

>>>>>>>>>>>>

okay, and, another thing, it seems like I've been slacking, two weeks since the last deviation

I've got 14 skeches sitting here waiting for a scan and some digital color

I haven't really been in the mode where I want to upload a bunch of rough draft pencil sketches and show them off, it doesn't do my ego any good to show unfinished work

my brain keeps dancing around a billion different ideas as to where I want to go with my art

the 14 sketches that I'm going to color digitally aren't really 14 individual projects but one big project, a series of design experiments I guess, and on the digital end it'll be a chance to practice and streamline and experiment with the use of software (I use corel painter)

So in that vein I'm aiming for more sketches before I begin to color

at least 20

Maybe 30

But I'll definitely begin coloring before the end of the month, if I can't make the number I'm satisfied with(what significance are numbers anyway?!) I have to set a cutoff date eventually, and so I'll throw down, sunday the 22nd, I'm done sketching and beginning to color, even if I don't even make a single drawing more between now and then.

so watch me

5 hour friggin' trance mix

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 8, 2008, 7:52 AM
Yes I said 5 hours

[link]

FIVE HOUR trance mix

progressive, psy, and goa

no cheez

so far at least, I'm at 1:45:00 into the mix at time of posting this

really good trip so far, so I recommend. Seems to range from 137(prog) to 143(psy)bpm but I'm only so far into it, it might change into bluegrass for all I know, being that it's 5 hours. At any rate I give the first hour and 45 nine stars.

Warning: Severe tranceheads only, non-tranceheads may suffer from headache as a side effect of thumping beat

edit: listened the whole way through, it only started to turn into a bad trip in parts around 3:30:00 to 4:30:00, it got heavy on the psychadelic style and there were some poor choices.... some decent choices as well... I don't really mind hearing electric universe' "prayer" but I've heard it enough already. As well as Astrix "Artcore", I've just heard it too much(though he did mix out of it really really well). The Infected Mushroom song in there was a great relief. Maybe it's just because lately I've been more of a progressive guy but a lot of times psy seems too intense

Come and shed tears with me (edit: or not)

Anyone that ever played Chrono Trigger and enjoyed it should look at this, if you haven't heard of Chrono Resurrection

[link]

The project is cancelled, of course, because companies hate their fans

This is very old news

However, I just learned about it today

I'll leave this blog up for as long as I can so more people will see it, I feel like my life was missing something that I didn't know about it

I feel unbearable emotions about this

edit 4am june 6th: I'll add that the original intention of this project wasn't a remake of the game
Just an interactive demo of 10 or so cutscenes (for the team's portfolios)
They still finished/are still finishing it for their own portfolios, it's just, the rest of us don't get to play it, because Square said so

But if anything it makes me sad that fans are willing to create such a thing such masterful appearance for no profit at all
When square won't even lift a finger toward such an idea that has obvious large scale support

Then again, they are going through the old FFs and remaking them, the portable 3d FF4 is a fantastic thing
So since they've done that much hopefully FF7 is on the list of things to remake
And eventually the likes of Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3, and Chrono Trigger are on the list
And hopefully not for a handheld, I'd really like Chrono Trigger with graphical quality beyond absurd so long as it stays true to the art style like this project did. As much as I'd like to see Xenogears remade the chances of that are about nothing...

So in the end what looked like a full scale remake of the game to me
Turned out to be an elaborate fanart

Which, the legalities of fanart certainly bother me

So this blog will get replaced whenever I feel like writing a new one, since I don't feel so outraged at the loss of a beautiful demo... "Chrono Resurrection" is kind of a deceptive title for a demo, yeah?

teeth

Journal Entry: Sun May 25, 2008, 12:24 AM
All these anime / toon bondage artists on DA

Do anime girls have teeth when they're ballgagged?

It sure doesn't seem that way

Myself included

We all seem to take the simplest route of drawing a ball shape and (maybe) an indication of lips around it

But if you look around fetish sites, or the fetish stuff on DA with ballgags, bit gags, cloth gags

You see a LOT more teeth in photographs

And it's friggin' sexy when they're biting it

Maybe I'll do some upper torso closeups so the head is big enough that I don't have a one pixel width to indicate the teeth

A lot of these drawings, if you look closely at the mouth and upper lip and the way the gag fits into the mouth

It looks like they don't have teeth, like their teeth were forgotten about
